# Start here

> A guided path through setting up Leaf360 for the first time, in the order the steps actually depend on each other.

New to Leaf360? Work through this page in order. Each step assumes the one before it is done, because most of them genuinely depend on it: stages have to exist before a pipeline can use them, and your records have to be in before there is anything to work.

<Note>
  **The walkthrough video is recorded but not published yet.** It will sit at the top of this page once it goes live. Everything below is ready to follow in the meantime.

## Before you start

Two pages worth reading first, so the rest of this makes sense:

* [What is Leaf360](/get-started/what-is-leaf360)
* [Signing in](/get-started/signing-in)

## The setup path

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set up your stages">
    Do this before anything else. Every pipeline, every automation and most of
    your reporting hangs off your stages, so changing them later means redoing
    work. See [Why you should set up your stages before anything else](/faq/setup-stages-first).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Shape your sales pipeline">
    Turn those stages into the pipeline your team actually works.
    See [How to customize your sales pipeline in Leaf360](/faq/customize-sales-pipeline).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Build your agent and partner pipeline">
    Referral partners move through their own stages, separate from leads and
    loans. See [How to build a pipeline for your real estate agents](/faq/build-agent-partner-pipeline).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Bring your database in">
    Import your existing contacts rather than retyping them.
    See [How to move your database into Leaf360](/faq/import-your-database).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add leads and referral partners by hand">
    For everything that arrives one at a time after the import.
    See [How to add leads and referral partners in Leaf360](/faq/add-leads-and-referral-partners).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Convert a lead into a business contact">
    When someone turns out to be a referral source rather than a borrower.
    See [How to change a lead into a business contact](/faq/lead-to-business-contact).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Work in bulk">
    Once there is volume in the system, stop doing things one record at a time.
    See [How to update hundreds of leads at once in Leaf360](/faq/bulk-update-leads).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give your agents their own login">
    Partners get a portal of their own instead of emailing you for updates.
    See [How to give your agents their own login](/faq/agent-partner-portal-login).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on notifications">
    Last, so you are not buried in alerts while you are still setting up.
    See [How to turn on notifications in Leaf360](/faq/turn-on-notifications).
  </Step>
</Steps>
